You’ve probably never heard of this man, or the meditation technique he teaches.
It is simply known as shaking, and involves shaking, spinning or moving to dance music in a meditative state, if you can get there. Dynamic meditiation involving movement helps to quieten the mind by providing focus, not to mention providing a good workout for the body. With the addition of laughter, physical work, and liquefied tobacco to help purify the body of released emotional blocks, it is the superhighway to happiness and healing. Well, so the brochure claims. I’m joking of course. It doesn’t say that.
My experience here was intense, and I did notice dramatic shifts in my psyche like never before, not to mention meeting other people who have cured themselves of terminal illnesses.
I do believe we can make our bodies sick through negative thinking, and in addition cure ourselves through selfless service, laughter and daily practice. It’s not as easy as just thinking positively, though it helps.

On a travelers budget it is extravagant, but for the life changing experience it provided me, not to mention the incredible food it was worth every penny. Forget dining in 4 star restaurants, it seems to me the best food I’ve ever had has been at meditation retreats.
I haven’t laughed or cried for a long time, but I did a lot of it here. The best thing is the ability to shout or scream to let go of frustrations, and the uncontrollable fits of laughter. This is the focus of Ratu’s teaching, and he believes this helps to focus the mind and remove illness from the body. I have to say, it takes a while to get into the swing. At first you wonder why all these nutjobs around you are laughing at a Balinese man who said nothing particularly funny. But after a few weeks, something starts to change. I guess I lightened up.
I started to look physically well, having arrived looking worn and disheveled. As Ratu says, laughter I a like a free beauty makeover.
